Gahanna, meet your neighbors (Part I)

By Angela Payne

I love meeting new people; some may even call me a social butterfly. So I was ecstatic when the thought crossed my mind to get out and talk to residents about why Gahanna is their city of choice. Gahanna-ites, meet Amanda and Tamara!
 ----------------------------------------------------
Meet Amanda, Gahanna resident for five years
What initially drew you to Gahanna? We wanted a place located close to where we worked and played, and Gahanna fit the bill.
What are some of your favorite recreational things to do? I love to shop, so I like being just down the road from Easton or a quick 20 minute drive from the Short North. We both play volleyball on a league in New Albany and spend time hiking in several of the parks around the area. We travel a lot, too, so it’s great being close to CMH.
Most memorable Gahanna experience? I love walking through Creekside, especially in the springtime when all the ducks are out with their babies. Sitting on the patio at Wine Guy or Old Bag of Nails is a relaxing way to spend the evening.
What sets Gahanna apart from neighboring communities? The location is pretty much perfect, because you’re just a short drive to pretty much anywhere in the city. Plus, there’s a good balance of restaurants, shopping and beautiful green space.
Words of advice for prospective residents? Look for a home that’s within walking distance of one of Gahanna’s many parks – they’re great for playing, biking, hiking, etc.
Amanda resides in Gahanna with her husband, Jeff, and their three cats, Centrino, Apple and Jasper.
 ----------------------------------------------------
Meet Tamara, Gahanna resident for four years
What initially drew you to Gahanna? We loved the community, family-oriented feel of Gahanna. The attractive landscape and natural resources were also a big draw.
What are some of your favorite recreational things to do? The Creekside paddle boats are great! We love attending events as a family, like the Blues and Jazz Fest, Freedom Festival, Second Saturdays and Creepside.
Most memorable Gahanna experience? Our first time going to watch the fireworks, we met a teenager who had come to the same spot since childhood to watch the fireworks.  As a tradition of our own, we started doing the same.
What sets Gahanna apart from neighboring communities? One word: heterogeneity!
Words of advice for prospective residents? Get connected with City departments to learn about all Gahanna has to offer – schools, recreation, resources, etc.
Tamara resides in Gahanna with her husband and their two children.
